After a rainy afternoon, the skies cleared on July 3 in plenty of time for a large crowd to celebrate Independence Day with live entertainment, speeches and a fireworks display at the Flagler Executive Airport.
Afternoon festivities at the Fireworks over the Runways event included performances by Chillula and Feedback the Band. An Independence Day ceremony followed at 7 p.m.
The Palm Coast Fire Department Honor Guard conducted a presentation of the colors, and city of Palm Coast Mayor David Alfin and local and state dignitaries read aloud from the Declaration of Independence.
The 9 p.m. fireworks show featured more than 1,000 shells.
Fireworks over the Runways was collaboration between the airport, the city of Palm Coast, the Flagler County government and Flagler Broadcasting.
