Law enforcement agencies host Christmas box drop-off through Dec. 30

The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, Flagler Beach Police Department, and Bunnell Police Department have teamed up to help keep Flagler County residents safe from holiday thieves.

Each agency, along with Waste Pro, will have a dumpster for residents to dispose of their holiday boxes.

By reducing the number of large boxes on the side of the road for trash pickup, thieves are less likely to know what fancy gifts your family received over the holidays. Working together with residents we can curb residential burglary and theft through this initiative.

“We’re wishing everyone a safe and happy holiday! In order to avoid Grinches this holiday season, please feel free to drop off large boxes at our department; so those mean Grinches don’t know what presents have been dropped off at your Whoville address,” said Flagler Beach Police Chief Matt Doughney.

“If a Grinch passes your home, give him no reason to steal your Christmas. Join us by disposing of marked gift boxes in the free bin behind the Historic Coquina City Hall in Bunnell. Also, be sure to immediately report suspicious activity to dispatch to help us quickly nab anyone auditioning for this season’s Grinch. By working with us, this time of year will remain merry and bright,” said Bunnell Police Chief Dave Brannon.

Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly reminds residents to, “Grinch-proof your Christmas by allowing us to take care of your large cardboard boxes this holiday season. The law enforcement agencies in Flagler County are committed to protecting our residents and their hard-earned belongings. Thank you to FBPD, BPD, and Waste Pro for partnering with us this year!”
