Police lights and sirens resounded through the Ormond Beach Walmart parking lot on Saturday, Dec. 3, marking the beginning of a six-year tradition for the Ormond Beach Police Department: The annual Shop with a Cop event.
Each year, Ormond Beach Police Officers volunteer to team up with local children, chosen by their schools, to provide them with a special $100 holiday shopping spree, thanks to a partnership with Walmart. This year, 24 children from Pathways Elementary, Ormond Beach Elementary, Pine Trail Elementary, Tomoka Elementary and Beachside Elementary took part in the initiative, which was launched by OBPD in 2017.
The annual Shop with a Cop event is one of the department's community outreach programs.
