After responding to a third threat against local schools in a span of two weeks, the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office is warning the community that even hoax threats can lead to felony charges.

“Sheriff Rick Staly reminds you that FCSO does not take prank calls like this lightly,” the FCSO said in a statement after a Nov. 29 bomb threat against Matanzas High School was found not credible. “We are investigating to determine who made the threat, which is a 3rd-degree felony.”

The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office had sent out a community alert on Facebook and Twitter at noon on Nov. 29 about the threat. The posts said that the school administration immediately reported the threat to school resource officers.

No suspicious devices were found.

This is the third threat against schools in Flagler County in November. An Indian Trails Middle School sixth grader was arrested for allegedly threatening a mass shooting on Nov. 16. Three days later, on Nov. 19, a 14-year-old Flagler Palm Coast High School student was arrested in connection with a bomb threat “joke”on Instagram.
