It's the unfiltered truth

4:12 a.m. First block of Point Pleasant Drive

Loitering/prowling, petit theft. A man approached a house on Point Pleasant Drive and began messing with objects near the home's front door, then walked over to a car in the driveway and looked inside, and started rummaging around in the mailbox.

A resident of the home noticed and called the Sheriff's Office.

A deputy found the man nearby and detained the man. He had a water filter in his back pocket, and admitted he'd taken it from the home's mailbox. The deputy asked him why.

The man said he "felt that was the right thing to do." The deputy arrested him and returned the water filter to the victim.

Not passing the sniff test

11:25 p.m. 5600 block of State Road 100

Possession of hashish. A deputy was at a gas station and noticed a car idling behind the building. When the deputy checked the car, there was a young man laying in the driver's seat with his eyes closed.

The deputy knocked on the window and the young man opened it, releasing a miasma of marijuana-scented air.

The deputy recognized the young man, who'd recently been arrested for hashish possession and driving on a suspended license. There was drug paraphernalia and alcoholic drinks in the car. The young man, though not a minor, was under the legal drinking age of 21.

The deputy arrested him.
