The Lady Buccaneers softball team fell hard to the Lady Eagles 8-1 Thursday, March 18, at Mainland’s Daytona Beach home base.
The Deltona Eagles launched into the first inning with 3 runs scored by Veronica Puckett, Mackenzie Morasse and Reilley Oglageo. In the bottom of the first, Mainland had back-to-back fly balls to the Eagles’ right fielder resulting in two outs. Ava Colubiale hit a double to center field and crossed home plate following Leah Coffing’s RBI single, bringing the score to 3-1.
Deltona’s defensive plays throughout the game left Mainland struggling to score. Leah Coffing led the Buccaneers with 3 hits in 4 at bats, and Colubiale remained the lone scoring Buccaneer resulting in an 8-1 deficit.
Mainland Buccaneers face the Flagler Bulldogs next on Wednesday, March 31, in Palm Coast.
