Matanzas Baseball lost on the road at Father Lopez 7-1, on Monday, March 15.
Junior pitcher Jacob Cope started for the Pirates, while the Green Wave started sophomore Owen McKinley. The Green Wave broke out in the bottom of the third inning, scoring five runs, then added two more to the lead in the bottom of the sixth, making the score 7-0.
Father Lopez brought in junior pitcher Josh Griggs in the top of the seventh inning to close out the game. Pirates junior Jack Rainey hit deep into the outfield, allowing junior Quincey Cuthbert to score, but the Pirates' comeback fell short, and Father Lopez won 7-1.
