Construction continues on Daytona Beach International Airport’s $7.6 million dollar parking lot improvement project, which began in December 2020. The project includes repaving and painting of the short- and long-term parking lots. Both lots are located on airport property. The paving of the short-term lot was completed in February and work continues in the long-term lot and rental car lots. During this portion of the project, rental cars have been temporarily relocated to a section of the short-term lot.
“Due to parking spaces still limited in the short-term lot, travelers may have to park in the long-term lot which is a little farther from the terminal,” said Marketing and Customer Experience Director Joanne Magley. “We apologize for any inconvenience as we continue to work on improving the customer experience at DAB.”
For the duration of the project, customer appreciation pricing will be in effect; the daily parking rate will be reduced to $12 from $15. The first 15 minutes of parking will remain free.
The project also includes repaving of Catalina Drive, Innovation Way and the rental car parking area, and. new way-finding signage, LED lighting and canopies over the parking ticket dispensers. FDOT funds up to 50% of projects and DAB, funds the remaining 50%. To date, FDOT has awarded $1.5 million for phase one.
DAB is a service of Volusia County Government but the airport is an enterprise fund, which means it operates on revenues from airlines, rental cars and other tenants on airport properties. No ad valorem tax dollars are used in airport operations.
