Repurposing with purpose.
On Tuesday, June 29, campers with the city's Enviro Camp learned about a new way to reuse shoes and aluminum foil: by turning them into planters. From sneakers to boots — and a few sparkling decorations — the campers were aided by members of the Ormond Beach Garden Club to complete their creations at the Environmental Discovery Center.
The activity was part of the summer camp's "Reclaim it!" themed-week, concluding the camp's first session. The second session will start July 12.
