Gone Fishing! Ormond hosts 'Reel in the Fun' kids fishing tournament

Ormond Beach's catch and release kids fishing tournament took place on Saturday, June 19.

The city of Ormond Beach held its "Reel in the Fun" kids fishing tournament on Saturday, June 19 at the Neptune Beach approach.

Kids cast hoping to catch, and release, the "big one" to win a fishing pole or other prizes. First place fishing pole prizes were provided by Ikea Leary of Granada Pier Bait and Tackle. The winners were:

Ages 4-6

1st place: Surya – 8-ounce whiting and 5 total caught

2nd place: Tie, Harper Dee and Millan; each caught two 6-ounce whitings

Ages 7-9

1st place: Aiden – 8-ounce whiting with 9 total caught
2nd place: Lillian – 8-ounce whiting with 2 total fish caught
3rd place: Carter – 8-ounce whiting with 1 caught

Ages 10-12

1st place: Tie, Antonio and George; each caught 7-ounce whiting
