Matanzas threw down the gauntlet on Jan. 21 in their home game against visitor Pine Ridge. Ending the game with a final score of 5-2 in favor of the Pirates, the team picked up their sixth win of the season (now 6-8-2 on the season.)
Matanzas will have less than 24 hours to rest and prepare for the second and final matchup against crosstown rival, FPC. The last time the two clashed on Dec. 18, the Pirates fell, with the Bulldogs securing a 3-1 victory over them. This next game, scheduled for 6 p.m. Jan. 22.
