The Chick-fil-A Classic hosted by Mainland High School, jumpstarted boys basketball after a one week holiday hiatus on Monday, Dec. 28. Seabreeze Sandcrabs kicked off the first day of the tournament with a hard fought battle against Trinity Catholic finishing with a loss of 63-60.
The second day of games brought Seabreeze face-to-face with the Olympia Titans. The tournament gave teams the opportunity to play outside their classification. Seabreeze High School is classified as a 5A school due to its average population of 1,600 students. Olympia High School is classified as a 7A school with a student population of nearly double that of Seabreeze's. Olympia dominated the entire game with a starting lineup of players towering 6 feet or taller. At 6-foot-4, Sandcrabs center J'oveion Henry was the team's high scorer with 13 points. Titans win 84-28 over Sandcrabs.
Seabreeze wrapped up the tournament Wednesday, Dec. 30, with a game against another 7A school, the Timber Creek Wolves. The Sandcrabs fell to the Wolves with a final score of 67-27.
Seabreeze boys basketball team travels to DeLand for a non-district game on Jan. 7 at 7 p.m.
