The Ormond Beach Fire Department was the recipient of a $5,000 donation by John Hamlin, founder and CEO of Hamlin and Associates, for new hoods.
Hamlin stopped by Fire Station 92 on Wednesday, Aug. 25, where he was thanked for his donation and presented with an honorary helmet signed by local firefighters.
The BarriAire hoods are designed to provide firefighters with coverage around their heads and neck, and are made with flame-resistant fabric that also protects them against particle exposure, according to the brand's website. They are worn underneath a firefighter's helmet.
