Father Lopez dominated Mainland with back-to back three-run innings that washed away the Buccaneers 7-1 on April 16. The first three runs for Father Lopez came in the second inning, when Ethan Fermin scored off a Matthew Zirpoli single on a hard ground ball, and Will Moore singled on a bunt and sent Zirpoli and Zach Taylor home.
Three more runs were scored in the third inning, with Aaron Baroni sprinting home on Fermin’s single; Fermin and Lochlan Gray scored when Zirpoli sent a zinger of a line drive into left field.
Aaron Baroni also scored in the top of the fifth when Mainland pitcher Bridges balked, bringing the score to 7-0.
Mainland’s only score came off a wild pitch in the bottom of the fifth.
