Flagler Palm Coast nearly had the win on the road but lost in the bottom of the seventh to Spruce Creek 3-2 on Thursday, April 1.
The Bulldogs started pitcher Alexis Laura, while the Hawks went with leftie Taylor Hartman.
Flagler Palm Coast got an early run with Hannah Kurek advancing home on a passed ball with Kylee Burns at bat in the top of the first. Sophomore Bailey Holmes caged the Hawks and mesmerized the fans with a couple of double plays in the second and fourth innings.
With the score tied 1-1 going in the seventh, the Bulldogs added another run when Madison Cercy reached home on a catcher’s error by Spruce Creek. The Bulldogs had the Hawks pinned down with two outs in the bottom of the seventh, but Haley Yeary singled and brought Marlee Jamieson home, bringing the score to 3-2 for the Spruce Creek victory.
