Seabreeze lost to Columbia in Lake City, 28-14, in a Class 6A-Region 1 football playoff game on Nov. 20. After a scoreless first quarter, Columbia scored two touchdowns, and the teams traded scores in the third and fourth quarters. Seabreeze finished the season with four wins and five losses.
The Sandcrabs missed a touchdown at one point in the game after they were stopped by Columbia at the goal line. Columbia's Marcus Peterson scored in the second quarter, followed by another by Jaquez Redic just as time expired at half time. Tony Fulton added another touchdown for Columbia in the third quarter.
But Seabreeze head coach Pat Brown prides his team on playing with heart and they did not disappoint. Quarterback Blake Boda and running back Amir Brown ran back-to-back plays, one succeeding in putting the Crabs on the board. Scoring seemed to energize Brown, and he followed it up with another touchdown, but Seabreeze was stopped in their tracks, and the Tigers scored again bringing the final score to 28-14, a Columbia win.
Columbia head coach Brian Allen and his Tigers play Mainland Buccaneers at Columbia High School in the Region 1 semifinal at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 27.
