The Matanzas Pirates (5-3) defeated the Pedro Menendez Falcons 13-3 on Friday, Nov. 6, at Matanzas.
After two quarters at 3-3, Pirate Jermaine Walker punched in the only touchdown of the game from a yard out, and kicker Stephen Usina added a second field goal in the fourth quarter to expand Matanzas' lead.
With the victory, Matanzas won secured its first winning season since 2017, and the Pirates earned the rights to host a play-in game for the playoffs.
Matanzas will play New Smyrna Beach Friday in said game on Friday, Nov. 13, at Matanzas.
