Pine Trail Elementary fifth graders celebrated their commencement to sixth grade with a graduation car parade on Thursday, May 28.
Fifth grade teachers presented students with a certificate and a bag of swag during the parade. The bag — made possible by the Fifth Grade Graduation Committee, sponsors and Pine Trail parents who supported fundraisers — included a 2020 class T-shirt, gift certificates to local bowling, ice cream and pizza shops, and other gifts, said Committee Secretary Marianne Burley in an email.
"We hope this graduation car parade lets these kids know how proud we are of them, while giving them a chance to say goodbye to their school one last time, quarantine style," she said.
