Seabreeze’s football team recently had its best week of practice, according to the Sandcrabs’ new head coach Pat Brown.
“The guys are buying in,” he said. “They’re locked in, and I think we’re starting to see that on the field more and more.”
What’s something that still needs to change? Consistency.
Fresh off a 1-9 season, the Sandcrabs took another step in the right direction in spring camp.
Seabreeze held its annual intersquad scrimmage on the night of Friday, May 10, at the Ormond Beach Sports Complex, with the white team (the defense) defeated the red team (the offense) 30-7. The defense was given points for forcing turnovers and turnover-on-downs.
Both teams made plays. The defense recorded several interceptions in the first half, and running back Otis Walker scored the offense’s only touchdown on a 5-yard run with 5:15 to play in the third quarter.
“We were just flying around on both ends,” Brown said. “This isn’t a finished deal. It’s still in progress. But we work on it every day.”
