The Rotary Club of Flagler Beach is hosting the Fabulous Fourth Parade in Flagler Beach at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 4. The application deadline is July 1.
“We welcome boats, cars, trucks, golf carts, bicycles, motorcycles, skate boards, scooters, walkers, you name it, to participate in the parade,” said co-parade coordinator Andrea Verde in a press release.
Applications can be found online at http://www.flaglerbeachrotary.org/. There is no cost to participate in the parade.
Participants will line up between 8 and 9:45 a.m. They will receive an entry number and map to their location before July 3 via email. The parade route is east on North 6th Street, south on Ocean Shore Boulevard, then west on South 6th Street.
There will be a Best of Parade trophy and first, second and third categories for Judges Choice, Best Marching Unit, Best Float and Best of Theme.
For safety reasons, the City of Flagler Beach bans the throwing of anything from moving vehicles. Candy or other items can be handed out by accompanying walkers.

The Palm Coast Arts Foundation has launched a new initiative to encourage creativity in recycling bottles into painted accent lights, according to a press release.
A party hosted by the Women’s Council of Realtors brought an energetic group to the Foundation’s office to experience their hand at painting bottles recently.
To schedule your painting party, contact PCAF at [email protected] or 225-4394. Larger parties can be held under the tent on its outdoor stage, while smaller parties are inside their office area. Cost of $20 (PCAF members); and $25 (future members) — includes all supplies, instruction and snacks, and you get to take your creation home.
Twenty-four Matanzas High School students, teachers and parents headed to New York City on June 1 for a five-day trip, sponsored by teacher Noel Bethea through EF Tours Broadway and the Arts.
The Metropolitan Museum Radio City Music Hall and Lincoln Center provided the travelers with a context for arts. Other favorite highlights included an up close and personal Q&A with a Broadway artist, a drama workshop in the city and seeing “Beautiful the Carole King Musical” and “King Kong.” On the last day, students were surprised with a lunch at Ellen’s StarDust Diner. Students were inspired by the food, culture and historical places and hope to bring the spirit of the city to the stage next spring for MHS production of Disney’s “Newsies” in next April.
School may be out, but for 17 college students, the work doesn’t stop. The city of Palm Coast has welcomed 17 interns for the 2019 summer internship program, according to a press release.
Interns are working on special projects designed to meet the current needs within city departments and are learning and practicing skills within their field of study. The students are supervised by professionals who are guiding and mentoring them.
The paid internships are full-time and may qualify for college credit with the student’s respective college.
This summer’s interns are: Daniel Calderon, Taylor Campo, Christopher Caschera, Sophia Clark, Samuel Colasanti, Alexandra Feldman, Anabella Giuliano, Jonathan Hale, Danevsky Joseph, Andres Lebron, Jessica Middleton, Taylor Pettine, Shawn Proctor, Erin Robinson, Jacob Roth, Brianna Valente and Rath Yoeum.
Internships at the city have previously led to full-time employment opportunities. Safety Specialist Benjamin Caoili interned in the summer of 2018 and now works at City Hall as a full-time employee.
Religious school for adults and children continues at Temple Beth Shalom with Rabbi Rose Eberle on Sundays throughout the summer. Open registration is available by calling 445-3006.
