Flagler Palm Coast High School hosted the 33rd-annual Flagler Rotary wrestling tournament on Feb. 1-2. Twenty-five teams from around the state competed in the event, including FPC, Matanzas and Seabreeze.
With 189.5 total points, the Pirates finished in third place behind Lake Highlands Prep and Winter Springs. The Bulldogs took 13th place with 57.5 total points.
Quenteen Robinson, who grapples in the 170-pound weight class for Matanzas, was the top wrestler for either team, finishing in second place.
Matanzas’ Shaun Culbreth (113-pound class), Lawrence Russo (132-pound class), Caleb Bower (138-pound class), Ian Eckert (145-pound class) finished in third place. In addition, FPC’s A.J. Cinelli (285-pound class) and Kenneth DeFord (138-pound class) took fifth; and Matanzas’ Sam Russo (152-pound class) and Cecil Bermudez (220-pound class) finished in fifth.
