Ormond Beach celebrated the upcoming Earth Day a few days earlier by holding its 27th-annual Picnic on the Plaza on Thursday, April 18.
The event featured many booths and exhibits, and the first 500 attendees received a free three-gallon tree. Organizations like the American Red Cross, CANDO 2, the Ormond Beach Garden Club, Ormond Beach Family YMCA and the Volusia-Flagler Sierra Club participated in the Picnic on the Plaza. Attendees were also entertained by the Five O'Clock Charley band.
Earth Day will be celebrated worldwide on April 22.
