Repeat offender

8:46 a.m. — Intersection of Clyde Morris Boulevard and Madeline Avenue

Driving While License Suspended. A 52-year-old man was pulled over after an officer patrolling the area saw him driving his 1998 blue Ford Expedition with a tag that expired 9 months ago.

When the officer asked the man for his drivers license, the man told the officer he didn't have it because it was suspended for not paying traffic citations, according to the report. The officer also noted the man had a prior suspended license conviction from 2015.

The man was arrested and taken to jail. He was also issued two traffic citations for driving with a suspended license and an expired tag.

If at first you don't succeed...

3:48 p.m. — 3400 Block of Ridgewood Avenue

False ID or Name Given to LEO. A 29-year-old man was arrested after he falsely gave two names with three different birth dates to an officer during a traffic stop. The man was initially pulled over after the reporting officer noticed the man was not wearing a seatbelt while driving.

When the man was asked for his ID, he told the officer he did not have his Ohio identification with him and gave the officer a name and birth date. While providing his name, the man seemed hesitant and appeared to think much harder than the average person about their name and birth date, according to the report. The officer noted the man had shaky hands and was breathing rapidly and deeply.

No record was found in Ohio for the information given, and this happened two more times before the officer took the man into custody.

When a search was conducted, the officer found a social security card in the man's pocket and asked if it belonged to him. After a moment of hesitation, the man said no, according to the report.

Once the man was in the patrol car, he told the officer his real name, which matched the social security card found on his person. The man said he had a warrant from Ohio, which is why he lied about his name.

The warrant was for parole violation in reference to a robbery that was issued last month. The man was taken to jail.

It’s a bladder problem

9:32 p.m. — 4200 Block of Ridgewood Avenue

DUI. A 73-year-old man was caught urinating in a business plaza parking lot by police. According to a report, an officer spotted a vehicle making an abrupt right turn into the lot, and when the officer turned into the plaza, he saw the man standing outside relieving himself.

Once the man finished urinating and zipped up his pants, the officer introduced himself and asked what the man was doing. The man replied his bladder could not hold water and he had to relieve himself, according to the report. The officer noted the smell of alcohol coming from the man's mouth, which the officer reported he could smell three feet away. The man's eyes were watery and glassy and he also had a red face.

The officer asked for his drivers license so the man retrieved his wallet from his right front pocket, turned it over, and put it back in his pocket without getting his drivers license out. The man continued to repeat himself saying he had a bladder problem and had to relieve himself.  The man looked down at his shorts and pointed out he had urinated on himself and his shoe, according to the report.

The man did provide his license on the officer's second request. He denied medical treatment when asked. The man said he was coming from Main Street in Daytona Beach and that he was headed home to Edgewater. Another officer responded to the scene, and asked if the man had drank anything. The man said he had three glasses of wine about an hour before, and didn't eat anything afterward.

The man declined to perform any field sobriety exercises or to submit to a breath test, asking to talk to a lawyer first. He was arrested.
