Temple Beth-El school provided its students with an opportunity to learn about the community's first responders with its annual Community Helper's Day on Wednesday, Oct. 26.
Students from pre-K to fifth grade listened as representatives from the Ormond Beach Fire Department, Ormond Beach Police Department, Volusia County Beach Safety, Volusia County Sheriff's Office, Daytona Beach Police and Florida Power and Light taught them about their jobs and role in the community. From seeing the inside of a fire engine to learning how to use a beach rescue buoy, the students got to see a sliver of what being a community helper entails.
