Ballgowns and bicycles were a common sighting at the Margarita Ball on Friday, Nov. 9, as distinguished guests carried and rolled in toys of all shapes and sizes to be donated to different charitable organizations in Flagler County.
The second-annual ball was put on by the Margarita Society of Flagler County. Two new board members were added to the nonprofit this year, making a total of nine.
The Board of Directors includes: Ginny Niebauer, Cindy Kiel Evans, Annette Gardinal, Nancy Walsh, RoseMarie Killian, Norma Francis, Rebecca DeLorenzo, Michele Gordon, Jim Niebauer Jeff Evans, Jimmy Millhollin, John Walsh, Hans Killian, Jason DeLorenzo, Rudolph Francis, Mike and Cathy Chuimento, Kevin Vagovic and Chelsea Abend.
The nonprofit's president, Cindy Evans, also said the nonprofit partnered with the Flagler Christmas Network this year to donate the toys to the following organizations: Project Share, Rymfire Elementary School, Flagler County Schools, Wise Men Gift Extravaganza, Families in Transition Program and Early Learning Coalition of Flagler County.
Evans said 430 toys — from bikes to balls to dolls — were collected at the event.
"The most important thing we say is be generous and just know this may be the only toy a child gets for Christmas, so whatever you buy, think of what you'd want your child to get," Evans said.
About 180 guests were personally invited to the private event at the Palm Coast Community Center, which was a new venue for the ball.
