Florence Thuot, founder of Journey’s End Animal Sanctuary, which provides lifetime care and shelter for dogs, cats, horses, pigs, sheep and birds, will explain the sanctuary’s mission during a free presentation at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, at the Port Orange Regional Library, 1005 City Center Circle.
Thuot will also bring along some of her animals and share their stories.

Marine Science Center to host Turtle Day
Residents can have a close encounter with endangered sea turtles and other marine life during the 16th annual Turtle Day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 28, at the Marine Science Center, 100 Lighthouse Drive, Ponce Inlet.
Animal rehabilitation staff will explain how they care for injured birds and sea turtles, while exhibitors from regional conservation organizations will provide information on projects throughout the area. Attendees can also meet glove-trained birds of prey and get their hands wet in the center’s touch pool, which features cownose rays and hermit crabs.

Chiropractor to discuss autism and the microbiome
Chiropractor Jayme Fear will present Autism and the Microbiome: Understanding the Mysterious Brain-Gut Connection at 2 p.m. Friday, April 13, at the Port Orange Regional Library, 1005 City Center Circle.
Frear will discuss the link between gut damage, increased toxicity and autism as well as explain how diet affects autism, and offer food and supplement suggestions. Complimentary “autism approved” product samples will be available.

Shannon Rae to sing at Port Orange library
Local singer Shannon Rae will perform popular tunes from the 1940s through 1970s at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 12, at the Port Orange Regional Library, 1005 City Center Circle.
Rae has performed on several original pop and jazz albums and is signed with an independent record label. She also does voice-over work on TV and radio.

Port Orange VFW to hold bike run and membership drive
To kick off the VFW Post 3282 membership drive, a bike run will be held on Sunday, April, 8. The post will also have live music and raffles. Bikers will end at the Port Orange VFW, 5810 South Williamson Blvd.
