The Iranian-American Society of Daytona Beach presented its fourth-annual Nowruz Festival at the Casements on Sunday, March 18, to celebrate the Persian New Year, a festivity that has been around for 4,000 years.
Nowruz celebrates the spring equinox and after thousands of years, it remains as the most important celebration for Iranians and the 300 million people in the neighboring countries who celebrate it as well. According to the Iranian-American Society, Persian Kings used to invite people of different religions and ethnicities from around the empire to court for Nowruz,
This festival has become the Persian New Year celebration for the Volusia County Community since its start in 2015.
