The Florida Department of Health in Volusia County has announced that mosquito-borne disease activity has increased across Volusia County. Two cases of eastern equine encephalitis have been confirmed in a horse and a donkey, and several sentinel chicken flocks and an emu also have tested positive for the EEE infection.

No human cases have been reported. However, the risk of transmission to humans has increased, the DOH stated.
