While mingling and business card swapping are common occurrences at networking events, a fashion show down a motorcycle-lined runway set the Flagler County Chamber of Commerce and Ormond Beach Chamber of Commerce fifth-annual joint social apart from a typical mixer.
Local leaders, political figures and employees of Bruce Rossmeyer’s Daytona Harley-Davidson sported Harley-Davidson attire and accessories as they walked down an aisle in the store located at 1637 N. U.S. 1, Ormond Beach.
“The purpose of this event is to give exposure to both memberships of what we have,” Ormond Beach Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Debbie Cotton said. “We’re very close in proximity. We have crossover members as well, so it’s just another way for us to collaborate.”
She said while there are a few businesses that have locations in both Flagler and Volusia County markets, the crossovers she tends to see are people living in Flagler County and working in Ormond Beach, or vice versa.
“Most of these are small businesses, so it gives them an opportunity to show off what they can do, for a small fee to be here, and then they get to be in front of a couple hundred folks,” Cotton added.
Vendor spaces were available for $150, and Cotton said 26 businesses were represented at the mixer.
“It’s a great way for both communities to come together and showcase businesses from both counties — by making it a really fun environment and inviting the public and community members to come in and network and learn more about the businesses,” Vice President of the Flagler County Chamber of Commerce Heather Edwards said.
