On Saturday, Oct. 21, at approximately 7:33 p.m. Port Orange police responded to the area of Devon Street and Taylor Road in Port Orange after a report an occupied vehicle had been shot into.
According to police, officers met with the reporting party who stated that another vehicle traveling near her on Clyde Morris Boulevard and Taylor Road was upset that her vehicle’s headlights were shining in his windows. The suspect and victim were stopped at the traffic signal at Clyde Morris Boulevard and Taylor Road when the suspect approached the victim’s vehicle, according to a press release.
Authorities reported that the victim drove off and the suspect followed her. As the victim turned left onto Devon Street, she heard a “pop,” the report indicates.
After arriving at a nearby friend’s house, she noticed her back window was shattered and called the police. As the officers investigated they located a bullet hole in the headliner and a projectile was recovered, according to the report.
The suspect vehicle is described as a small, dark colored, older model pickup truck. According to authorities, the truck may have a rear sliding glass window with an unknown type sticker on the window.
The suspect is described as a white male in his mid-30s with facial hair, wearing a white t-shirt and a hat. There was a passenger in the vehicle that had a sleeve tattoo on their right arm. It is unknown if the passenger in the suspect vehicle was a male or female.
This incident remains under investigation by the Port Orange Police Department.
