Flagler County is decking the halls with these festive events

Tree-Lighting Ceremony

When: 6-6:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1

Where: Central Park in Town Center, 975 Central Ave., Palm Coast

Details: Santa will arrive on a Palm Coast fire engine as the countdown to the tree lighting begins. Jazz singer Linda Cole will perform holiday favorites. Unwrapped toys and nonperishable food will be collected for Toys for Tots and a local food pantry. 

 

12th-annual Fantasy Lights Festival

When: 6:30-9 p.m. Dec. 1-30

Where: Central Park in Town Center, 975 Central Ave., Palm Coast

Details: The self-guided walking tour with 40 large animated light displays includes music, Santa’s Village and holiday refreshments. Visit palmcoastgov.com/calendars or flaglerrotary.org. Free event, but donations to the Rotary Club of Flagler County are accepted. At 6 p.m. on Dec. 1, 13 participating restaurants will offer their finest dishes for a “Taste of the Holidays.” The public can purchase $1 and $2 tickets to sample dishes at the park.

 

Festival of Trees

When: 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1

Where: Flagler County Public Library, 2500 Palm Coast Parkway NW, Palm Coast

Details: Presented by the library and Friends of the Library, the event will feature many trees decorated by local nonprofit organizations. Musical entertainment by County Commissioner Nate McLaughlin. The trees will be on display through December. Call 446-6763.

 

First Friday

When: 5:30-8:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1                               

Where: Veterans Park, Flagler Beach

Details: Guests can visit with Santa and watch performances from several school bands and choirs.

 

“Every Christmas Story Ever Told (And Then Some)”

When: 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9

Where: Flagler Playhouse, 301 E. Moody Blvd., Bunnell

Details: Three actors decide to perform a mash-up of Christmas stories and carols. Piano sing-a-long at intermission. Free glass of Champagne on opening night. Tickets are $25 online at flaglerplayhouse.org, or call the box office at 586-0773.

 

The Sound of Christmas

When: 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1 and 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3

Where: St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 5400 Belle Terre Parkway, Palm Coast

Details: The Choral Arts Society will perform. No admission charge, but donations are accepted to support the CAS Scholarship Fund. Contact 407-474-1437.

 

Holiday at the Beach Parade

When: 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2

Where: Flagler Beach

Details: Santa will parachute in at 1 p.m. just north of the pier. Santa will ride in the parade with the Flagler Beach Fire Department fire truck. Attendees are asked to bring a toy for Project Share if able.

 

Annual Candlelight Service of Remembrance

When: 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3

Where: Craig Flagler Palms Memorial Gardens, 511 Old Kings Road S., Flagler Beach

Details: Bring a favorite ornament in remembrance of your loved one to decorate the tree. ​

 

“Buddy- The Buddy Holly Story”

When: 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4

Where: Flagler Auditorium, 5500 State Road 100, Palm Coast

Details: Buddy tells the enduring tale of the musical icon's meteoric rise to fame and his final legendary performance at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa, before his tragic and untimely death at the age of 22. Call 437-7547.

 

Dance Alive National Ballet presents “The Nutcracker” with Flagler County students

When: 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7

Where: Flagler Auditorium, 5500 State Road 100, Palm Coast

Details: Become entranced by the beauty of the Sugar Plum Fairy and her dazzling Court, enchanted by the swirling snowflakes and breathtaking snow, and cheer for the tiny toy soldiers and their leader, the handsome Nutcracker Prince. Adult tickets are $29.95, youth are $19.95. Call 437-7547.
