When Liberty, 36-pound, four-year-old Staffordshire terrier mix first arrived at the Halifax Humane society in March 2017 she was in bad shape.
Her face was swollen and covered in scars and there were multiple wounds and punctures all over her body. She had every indication of being a dog that had been used in dog fighting.
After weeks of medical treatment her wounds have healed and her spirit has returned. She is a healthy and happy pup ready for a family to give her the love she deserves.
As with all dogs at the shelter, Liberty went through her ASPCA SAFER behavior assessment and passed with flying colors.
She is wonderful with people but, due to her history, needs to be the only animal in the home that adopts her.
“We believe she will flourish with the right home and environment, and we would love to promote her for adoption and give this very deserving dog a chance at a forever home,” Barry Kukes, HHS community outreach director, said.
Anyone interested in meeting and hopefully adopting Liberty should call the HHS Animal Behavior Manager Emily Dombrowski at 274-4703, ext. 326.
