Pathways Elementary students participated in the Young Athlete program sponsored by the Special Olympics on Friday, April 28.
The inclusive program paired students with cognitive or motor delays with typical peers and allowed the students to highlight their abilities and showcase what they have learned throughout the year. The athletes worked on balance, strength, and endurance as they competed in events that included hurdles, target throws, torch races, t-ball, and goal kicking.
The children were cheered on by their parents, the faculty and other students with banners and encouragement.
