The Seabreeze Sandcrabs have won three games over the last two seasons. That doesn’t matter to head coach Troy Coke and the rest of the squad. Their skill players have surprised other schools with multiple upsets.
"We’ve beaten four 8A teams in the last two weekends, and our kids are believing they can line up and play against anybody.”
TROY COKE, Seabreeze head coach
Seabreeze went 4-2 at the Spruce Creek 7-on-7 tournament Saturday, June 24, beating Seminole, West Orange, Celebration and Warner Christian, in the first round of the elimination rounds. They were eliminated in the second round.
“I’m super proud of my guys, but I wasn’t ready to go home,” Coke said. “We’re definitely gaining confidence. We’ve beaten
four 8A teams in the last two weekends, and our kids are believing they can line up and play against anybody.”
The prior weekend, the Sandcrabs also won four games, including two over Flagler Palm Coast, and they also made it to the second round.
While Coke understands there is room for improvement in his skill players, he’s pleased with how well they’ve performed in June.
“Defensively, our corners have done a great job staying on top of routes and making people earn everything,” Coke said. “Offensively, we’ve made a lot of improvement in our timing, but most of all they’ve made some clutch throws and catches when we needed them.”
