The semifinal round of the City of Palm Coast’s Adult Basketball League produced two games that were both decided by a combined five points on Monday, July 17, at Buddy Taylor Middle School.
All In Ball In defeated Coast 58-54 in the first game. Keke Henry led the winners with 17 points; D’John James followed with 12, and Nysean Giddens finished with 11 points. Tevin Galvin led Coast with 19 points.
Moody Homes beat Ball Is Life 58-57 on David Madzunovic’s game-winning buzzer-beating putback shot. After beginning the game with only four players for the first four minutes, Ball Is Life fell back 13-4 and never recovered until the final two minutes.
Trailing 54-47 with a little over a minute, Toray Johnson scored a 3-pointer while he was fouled and converted the extra bucket to make it 54-51. Shortly after, Johnson nailed another 3-pointer to tie the game at 54-54.
After Ball Is Life forced a turnover, Johnson drove to the basket and scored on a layup while getting fouled. He made the free throw to give Ball Is Life its first lead of the game at 57-54 with six seconds remaining.
After Moody scored a quick bucket to pull within a point, the team forced a turnover with two seconds remaining by pushing Johnson out of bounds under his own basket, but no foul was called. That’s when Madzunovic scored the game-winner.
Ball Is Life players argued the no-call with the officials after the game, but the play was not overturned.
All In Ball In will play Moody Homes for the league championship at 7 p.m. July 19, at BTMS.
