The Seabreeze Sandcrabs (2-0) shut out crosstown rival Mainland Buccaneers 3-0 on Tuesday, Feb. 21, at Mainland.
The game belonged to both teams' defenses and predominately the pitchers, Marlana Sutton (Sea) and Abigail Killian (Main). Sutton struck out nine batters while only allowing two hits, and Killian retired 15 batters and gave up five hits.
Angelina Del Rosso and Killian were the only Buccaneers (1-2) to get hits. Meredith McGarity (triple), Kinsley Moore, Celeste Delorenzo, Sutton and Shay Bloodworth all had hits. Bloodworth had two RBIs.
The Sandcrabs will next play Matanzas at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, at the Ormond Beach Sports Complex, and Mainland will play Edgewater at 4 p.m. also on Thursday at Edgewater.
