Husband and wife team Jeff and Cindy Evans led the effort for the inaugural Flagler Margarita Ball of Flagler County to help support Flagler families in need this holiday season. Donations brought in by the event went to Rymfire Elementary and Bunnell Elementary schools.
The event was held Nov. 3 at Channel Side in Palm Coast. Rebecca DeLorenzo, RoseMarie Killian, Annette Gardinal and Nancy Walsh also led the effort. Dave Freeman from Flagler County School Plant Services helped with the delivery of all the presents to the schools.
Flagler County’s centennial year of 2017 will draw to a close at 4 p.m. Monday, Dec. 18, when a time capsule will be buried in front of the Government Services Building.
The Centennial Committee on behalf of the Flagler County Board of County Commissioners has assembled a collection of letters, photographs, memorabilia and other printed materials to be unearthed by a future generation 50 or 100 years from now.
Rymfire Elementary School held a winter concert on Thursday, Dec. 7 to bring the holiday spirit to Flagler Schools. Chorus and bucket drummers performed for an entertaining evening.
Undersheriff Jack Bisland, second in command at the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, graduated the 51st Chief Executive Seminar on Dec. 6.
On a limited basis, those designated to act in the absence of the chief executive are invited to attend, as was the case with Undersheriff Bisland.
On Dec. 7, Rymfire Elementary School third-grade students in Mrs. White's and Mrs. Bradley's classes participated in a Google Hangout session set up by Melanie Tahan in the OASIS Media Center with Bill Kunneke, a solutions engineer at TE2, The Experience Engine, Inc. in Orlando.
Students were able to ask questions and interact with Kunneke. The event was part of Computer Science Education Week, which took place Dec. 4-10.
Project Green Wreath is a fire-prevention program that runs through the month of December. Large wreaths have been hung at all five Palm Coast Fire Stations, with green light bulbs in each. Firefighters will replace one green light with a red light for each structure fire during the month.
