In just two hours, 35 local members of the community cleaned up enough over 100 cubic yards of debris from the Ormond Memorial Art Museum's gardens. That's more than enough to fill one truck from FEMA.
Hurricane Matthew left the 70-year-old gardens a mess, and locals came together Nov. 13 to help it get back to its naturally pristine state. FEMA came last week to remove three truck fulls of 40 trees, according to Janett Taylor, a master gardener at the museum.
Ormond Beach Brewing Co. sponsored the event, and members from the Young Professionals Group Ormond and Volusia Young Professionals Group attended the event. Idea Dinners is also donating proceeds from their Nov. 21 community potluck at Ormond Brewing Company to the garden restoration.
