United Way of Volusia Flagler Counties will have 450 serve 18 communities for 'Day of Action'

Then annual event mobilizes the caring power of volunteers to make a meaningful impact in more than 300 communities around the world.

United Way of Volusia Flagler Counties is rallying hundreds of volunteers throughout the community June 21 for Day of Action, an annual event that mobilizes the caring power of volunteers to make a meaningful impact in more than 300 communities around the world.

According to a press release, more than 450 volunteers will be serving with United Way at 18 different locations this year. 

“I am pleased at the response of the local businesses and organizations who have stepped up to offer their support to non-profits in need of assistance for a variety of projects," said Dennis Burns, president and Ormond Beach resident. "It is through these efforts that our community becomes stronger.”

United Way of Volusia Flagler Counties will create meaningful activities centered on health, education,and financial stability. This year, volunteers from the following Ormond Beach companies and organizations will be participating in Day of Action projects:

  • Bridge of HOPE with Halifax Urban Ministries, adopted by Publix
  • Family shelter painting project with Halifax Urban Ministries, adopted by Bank of America
  • Teddy bear drive with Early Learning Coalition of Flagler-Volusia, adopted by Young Professionals Group of Ormond Beach
  • Painting Project with PACE Center for Girls (Ormond), adopted by Seacoast Bank

Other local projects include: 

  • Prom decorations with Center for the Visually Impaired, adopted by Synergy Billing
  • Children’s Home Society garden project, adopted by Target of Orange City
  • Domestic abuse shelter updates with Domestic Abuse Council, adopted by Publix
  • Habitat for Humanity build in Daytona, adopted by County of Volusia’s Information Technology Division
  • Gifts of encouragement with Early Learning Coalition of Flagler-Volusia, adopted by James Moore
  • Teddy bear drive with Early Learning Coalition of Flagler-Volusia, adopted by James Moore
  • Habitat for Humanity build in Daytona- adopted by Votran
  • Beautify our living space with Family Renew (Holly Hill), adopted by Daytona Beach International Airport
  • Flagler Habitat for Humanity build, adopted by United Way Women’s Initiative Flagler
  • Halifax Habitat for Humanity beautification project, adopted by Volusia County Department of Corrections
  • Summer food drive with Second Harvest Food Bank, adopted by DuvaSawko
  • Marketing Mix with Help Me Grow, adopted by Medtronic
  • Painting project with the House Next Door,  adopted by County of Volusia’s HR department
  • Chicks for Kick Shoe Drive, Adopted by United Way Women’s Initiative Volusia
