In the final five minutes of the kids freshwater fishing tournament, Max Spada caught the winner for his age division. This past Saturday, he went back to that same corner in Central Park, hoping to reclaim his victory.
But there was a slight problem.
"The fish are mean today," Spada said as he dangled his pole over the water. The former champion's special corner didn't pay off at Reel in the Fun this year.
Though the fish were being slightly stingy with their bites, DuJuan Mitchell managed to catch a 2-pound bass fish, and win first place in his age division.
Hosted by the City of Ormond Beach, the event encourages families to come out and spend a day on the water together. This year the participants got extra treats, with everyone receiving a breakfast donated by Chick-fil-A, and a fishing pole from Fish Florida.
