This year’s Mission Possible 5K at Santa Maria del Mar in Flagler Beach brought in over 100 runners on April 9.
What started as a fun run turned into a very successful 5K this year with donations. All donations for the race benefited the youth program at the church.
Donations help support mission trips over the summer as well as youth group trips throughout the year.
The end of this year’s race brought the debut of the “Bolt for Brian,” a 50-yard dash for children who are too young to participate in the 5K. The run is dedicated to Brian Pison, who died at 18 years old last year. He was very active with the church, always helping Father Al Esposito, the church’s pastor, as well as the church’s youth group.
All of the 50-yard-dash proceeds went to the Brian Pison Foundation, which supports the youth group.
Esposito was happy to see families and young people engaged in the church, with everyone coming together to support a common cause for providing quality experiences for the youth.
