Handy phone feature
12:43 a.m. — First Block of South Atlantic Avenue
Theft. The suspect lost his iPhone by the motel pool. He was advised to use the “find my phone” feature so he would be notified when his phone is turned on. At 11:25 p.m., his phone notified his daughter’s phone, giving its location.
An officer went to the location and the resident said he works at the motel. He said a homeless-looking person approached him and asked if he wanted to buy the phone for $20.
When he got home, he took out the SIM card and left it off until about 11 p.m.
The phone was returned to the victim, and he said he did not want to press charges.

Define panhandling
5:14 p.m. — 200 North Nova Road
Trespassers. Management of a shopping plaza complained about a female suspect soliciting customers for money as they exited their cars in the parking lot. The customers would then turn and walk away.
The officer informed the suspect of the complaint, and she explained that she wasn’t asking for money, only cigarettes. The code of ordinances defines panhandling as asking for any item of value.
She was trespassed from the property, with the understanding that if she returns, she’ll be subject to arrest.

After he was arrested, more items were found in his pockets. When asked why he didn’t tell the officer about the items in his pockets, he said he forgot they were there.
