Paper: An early version of an iPad

11:44 a.m. — 800 Block of Hull Road

Theft

The victim said he shipped an iPad to customer and later received a letter saying, “Thanks for the box of paper.”

The box had apparently been shipped with 50 sheets of printer paper rather than the iPad.

The victim said that before shipment, the iPad box was sitting on the shipping desk. Surveillance video showed the suspect pick up the box and remove it from camera view. Later, he placed the box back on the table.

The victim said the suspect was angry upon being questioned. First, he said he never touched the box, but later said he opened it because he was curious what they looked like.

The victim said the suspect has a printer on his desk that uses paper similar to that shipped in the box. The victim looked at the suspect’s search history on his computer and found he had searched for iPad cases.

The officer collected the evidence and began to try to contact the suspect.

Nothing is too big to steal

1:51 p.m. — 1200 Block of West Granada Boulevard

Theft

The roll-off dumpster at a site where shops are being constructed was missing. A representative said it was not removed accidentally and was presumed stolen.

It was a metal dumpster, measuring 20 feet long and 8 feet wide, and painted blue with a company logo.

A surveillance camera takes photos of the area every 15 minutes, and the photos are available on a website. The officer located the website, but the photos would not download because of the limitations of the computer that was available.

The representative said a large truck with a hydraulic tow capability would be required to remove the dumpster.

Civil Complaint.

The officer arrived at the bank after a call about two suspicious individuals. Upon arriving, he saw them doing lawn maintenance. They said they had been taking care of the grounds since last week.

A bank employee said they did not have a contract to work at the bank. He said the job was up for bid and had not been filled.

One of the suspects showed the officer an email from an unknown source that said he was to start taking care of the grounds.

The suspects were trespassed from the property until they can show documentation of their contract.

Smelling’s not finding

10:22 p.m. — 200 Block of North U.S. 1

Information

The officer smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from a vehicle as it drove by. After stopping the car, the passenger and driver both got out and instantly become confrontational. When more officers arrived on the scene, they calmed down, but the passenger said, “You may smell something but you won’t find anything.”

The driver gave permission to search the vehicle and nothing was found.
