Police found a man and a woman dead in a townhouse May 17 after receiving a 911 call. They have not released a cause of death but said it was not from natural causes. An autopsy was scheduled for May 19.

Police arrived on the scene at 2 Hunters Run Circle about 9 p.m. Inside the home were the bodies of Heather Rasumoff, 44, who lived there, and Gary Smith, 58, 21 Birchwood Trail.

On the night of May 17, after becoming concerned about not hearing from the couple, relatives went to the home, according to Ormond Beach Police spokesman Keith Walker. One of the relatives went inside and then came back out and said police should be called. The daughter of Rasumoff then called 911.

Walker said investigation shows the couple had been dating for about four months.

Ormond Beach Police investigators and crime scene personnel were working to determine the series of events that led up to the deaths and interviewing family members.

On the morning of May 18, neighbors who did not want to be named said they did not hear anything unusual. They said they became alerted to the incident by the flashing lights of half a dozen police cars, an ambulance and a fire truck.

Several neighbors said the person had only lived there a few months and they had never noticed anything unusual at the home.

One neighbor asked a policeman on the scene if they should be concerned about criminal activity, and the officer told him they were not seeking any suspects. Walker said there are no safety concerns in the area.
