Unhappy tenants and unknown landlord
9:30 a.m. — 100 Block of Marvin Road. Civil Complaint. The officer became suspicious that alleged renters were really squatters for the following reasons. They said they never met the landlord and rented the house through Craigslist; they mailed a check to the landlord but did not know where they mailed it; no utilities were turned on; and the landlord gave them a key to the lockbox but they no longer had the lockbox to show they didn’t break in.
The officer contacted the previous owner, and she said Bank of America had taken possession of the property. She said she had received calls from neighbors about the suspects suspiciously moving into the home.
No action was taken due to it being a civil matter. The officer contacted Bank of America for clarification on the status of the property but was unable to contact anyone who could advise about the situation.
In his last conversation with one of the suspects, the suspect said he was going to vacate the property because the owner refused to resolve issues about problems with the home, such as damaged plumbing.

He then asked the victim to send money via Moneygram to him. He said the money was for a company to pick up the motorcycle and ship it to Minnesota. He said he would reimburse the victim after the company was paid.
The victim sent $1,530 via Moneygram to a city in Minnesota. The suspect asked for more, and the victim sent $1,326.
