Santa Claus made a grand entrance to the City of Bunnell’s holiday celebration onboard a firetruck on Friday, Dec. 19. Once disembarked, he strode through the crowd like a celebrity, as tiny hands reached out and grasped his red winter jacket. Each child was given a turn to sit on the jolly elf’s lap for a quick photo opportunity.

The annual event was held at Lake Lucille in Bunnell. The night included free hay and train rides, an icy blizzard, and a living nativity featuring rabbits and Shetland ponies.
“Merry Christmas, from the City of Bunnell,” Mayor Catherine Robinson said. “The evening is packed with activities for the kids and a snow blizzard the whole family can enjoy. We will end on a high-note with fireworks over the lake; what a day for the city of Bunnell.”
After the Christmas tree lighting the students at First Baptist Christian Academy in Bunnell performed well-rehearsed holiday songs for the entire gathering. Soon after a special performance was held by the Palm Coast Swing Band.
“We aren’t going to be outdone by Rockefeller Center in New York City,” City Manager Larry Williams said. “We have the live music, the Christmas lights and I checked the weather report; it is forecast to snow here any minute.”
