The Sandcrabs had a tough day at the office against the Deltona Wolves, losing 11-1, when the mercy rule was inflicted in the bottom of the fifth inning on Thursday April, 23, at Daytona State College.
“To lose like this in the district championship is just really disappointing,” coach Anthony Campanella said. “We had a big win yesterday, and it’s just disappointing that we didn’t go out and play the way should’ve played.”
The Wolves jumped out to a quick lead and continued to apply pressure with every inning, scoring at least three runs in the first three innings.
With the loss, Seabreeze will travel for the first round of the playoffs to play Ocala Forest Wednesday, April 29, in Ocala.
Campanella has already declared that Adam Orfinger will get the job as the starting pitcher, saying, “I have three really good guys; he’s just throwing the best for us right now. I think Adam gives us the best chance to win right now.”
The Lady Sandcrabs softball team just lost in a close heartbreaker to Ocala Forest 1-0 in the opening round, so the boys will seek a different fate.
