The course lasts for 10 weeks

The 31st Citizen Police Academy has been announced for anyone who lives or works in Ormond Beach and is at least 18 years old. This 10-week program provides an overview of how the Ormond Beach Police Department operates, and the important role citizens play in crime control efforts.

The class will meet 7-9 p.m. every Wednesday from May 6 until July 8 at the police department, 170 W. Granada Blvd.

The class is limited to 28 seats and participants are chosen to ensure a broad community representation so the students might develop an understanding of the effects that social, cultural, educational and economic institutions have on the city’s neighborhoods, according to police spokesman Keith Walker.

Additional information and a registration form are on the city website, ormondbeach.org.

To apply, fill out the registration form and drop it off at the Ormond Beach Police Department. The registration form can also be emailed to Officer Jay Brennan at [email protected].

For questions about the Citizen Police Academy, email Brennan or Officer Gregory Stokes at [email protected].
