If it sounds too good to be true…
3:32 p.m. — 500 Block of Hand Avenue. Fraud. The victim received an email asking if she wanted to make money by being a secret shopper, and she said yes.
She said she received a packet in the mail with a check for $1,850 and instructions to deposit it in her bank account and wait 24 hours. She was then instructed to withdraw all but $250 of the funds and purchase Green Dot prepaid cards from a store. After purchasing the cards, she was to scan them and send the information to the suspect along with a checklist on how she was treated at the store.
After three days, the check was returned by the issuing bank, leaving the victim’s account overdrawn. She was unable to contact the suspect again.

Empty house vandalized
1:39 p.m. — 200 Block of Black Hickory Way. Burglary. The victim, a representative for a home builder, said some time during the night, an unknown number of suspects entered a home being built and took a can of spray foam. They then sprayed it on several walls and a glass door. The victim removed it from the walls, but it caused permanent damage to the glass door. She estimated the damage at $600.
The victim thinks the persons who entered may be neighborhood kids, based on footprints and the fact that she has seen several kids around the site. Also, there is a trail from the house through woods that leads to a neighborhood.
At the time of the incident, she said there were no posted signs that said “No Trespassing.”
