Team effort
11:25 a.m. — 1000 Block of North U.S. 1. Theft. The loss prevention officer for a convenience store chain said that he was notified of a fuel theft.
He said he watched the surveillance tape, which showed a blue minivan, a white SUV and a white utility van arrive on the scene. The minivan parked directly on top of the access cover to the underground storage tanks and the other two vehicles parked in a way to conceal it.
About 326 gallons of diesel fuel were apparently siphoned into the utility van from the storage tank. The estimated value of the gas was $1,303.68
The loss prevention officer said that the same vehicles have been observed doing the same thing in other cities in Central Florida. No license plates were visible in the surveillance video.

Finders keepers?
4:09 p.m. — 100 Block of Shady Branch Trail. Burglary. The victim said his aluminum extension ladder was taken from his front yard. He said that at 4 p.m., he left his ladder behind a bush and went into his house to get a bandage. When he returned five to 10 minutes later, it was gone.
A neighbor said he was painting his fence when he noticed a small, bright yellow hatchback pull over in front of the house. A male got out and looked at the ladder. He then opened the hatchback, put the ladder in and drove off.
The neighbor said he didn’t think about it much because a lot of construction work had been done at the house, and he figured it was the suspect’s ladder.
The value of the ladder was estimated at $150.

Garage door alarm
11:18 a.m. — First Block of Katrinas Drive. Burglary of Conveyance. The victim said she was sleeping on her couch when she heard a garage door go up. She immediately looked out her window and saw lights of a vehicle leaving her driveway. She figured it was her neighbor because sometimes they go to work in the middle of the night.
When she went outside the next day at 9 a.m., she noticed her garage door was up. She figured she left the door open because nothing was missing from the garage.
When she entered her truck, which had been left in the driveway, she noticed it was in disarray and the garage door opener was missing. At that point, she figured the suspect hit the garage door opener when he was going through the truck.
The garage door opener was valued at $50.
